Will senior citizens ever want to travel again?

Coventry Direct, life insurance experts, recently surveyed over 800 Americans aged 55+ on their thoughts and experiences with traveling during the pandemic.

Here’s what they found:

  • When it comes to air travel, 71% of respondents feel either hesitant or very hesitant about getting on a plane in 2020.
  • Female seniors are more likely to be hesitant about travel - 77% of females are either hesitant or very hesitant about travel in 2020 compared to 68% of males
  • Looking forward, 40% of people say they will not be doing any international travel in 2021 no matter what happens with the coronavirus.
  • Post COVID-19, the most desired travel destination for seniors is Tokyo, Japan according to 24.3% of respondents

The survey also looks at how previous travel plans have been affected by the pandemic, gender differences in willingness to travel, and more.
