The Hon. Minister Edmund Bartlett from Jamaica Yesterday addressed the world to remind the importance of tourism in the world and in his home country Jamaica.
He delivered his address today in a Jamaican beach setting. it’s a serious message this year, but it shows the commitment Jamaica has to get out of the tourism crisis. Bartlett is the main driver of support behind upcoming initiatives and improvements.
Today, we join the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the global community in celebrating World Tourism Day. This year’s theme: “Tourism and Rural Development” highlights the unique role that tourism plays in providing opportunities outside of big cities and preserving cultural and natural heritage all around the world.
Here in Jamaica, this theme will guide our activities for Tourism Awareness Week, which runs from September 27 – October 3, as we raise awareness of tourism’s significant contribution to the island’s wide-scale growth and development.
