WASHINGTON, DC, USA – The Events Industry Council’s (EIC) Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) programme is recognised around the world as a badge of excellence in the events industry. EIC recognised 287 professionals who earned their CMP or CMP-Healthcare designation in August 2020.
“The CMP credential is recognised globally as the badge of excellence in the events industry. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education and a rigorous exam,” said Amy Calvert, Events Industry Council CEO. “At a time when we see major disruption to the events landscape and ecosystem, these professionals, through their commitment to continuous learning and professional development, have the passion, knowledge, skill, and expertise to advance the industry.”
The programme was launched by EIC in 1985. EIC initiated the CMP-HC subspecialty in 2014. Both increase professionalism in all sectors of the industry by:
- Identifying a comprehensive body of knowledge in the meeting management profession.
- Promoting industry standards, practices, and ethics.
- Stimulating the advancement of the art and science of meeting management.
- Increasing the value of CMPs to their employers.
- Maximizing the value received from the products and services provided by CMPs.
“We’re very proud of these individuals,” said Events Industry Council CMP Governance Commission Chair Barbara Connell, CMP, CAE. “We’re even more proud of the contribution they make to instill a commitment to, and professionalism in, their work around the world.”
In August, EIC expanded testing options for the CMP and CMP-HC exams as part of its ongoing effort to support industry professionals seeking to earn this designation. This is the first class of CMP candidates who had an option to take the exam via remote proctor. Approximately 50 percent of all candidates who tested in August sat for their exam utilising remote proctoring.
