Foreign tourists in Thailand will need to stay in the island-country for a longer duration starting from October. This announcement was recently made by a Thai government official since Thailand wishes to boost the tourism sector, which is the main source of revenue for the country.
Tourism Authority of Thailand Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said that tourists visiting Thailand will need to stay for a minimum period of 30 days, which is inclusive of a 14-day quarantine period. This would be close to their hotel. After the quarantine period is over, tourists can explore other areas.
Starting from October 1, visitors will go through two Corona virus tests during quarantine before they travel freely across Phuket, said the Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn.
After that, visitors will go through an additional test and stay within the province for one more week and after that, they can travel across Thailand.
Thailand is controlling Corona virus quite effectively. In the last three months, there is no confirmed case of a local COVID-19 transmission.
