The new face of Empordà Golf Resort has been unveiled after the much-anticipated reopening of its newly refurbished hotel, the completion of the first part of a multi-million euro redevelopment project taking place at the Spanish venue.
Hotel Empordà Golf reopened its doors to the public on July 1 for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic following an extensive six-month renovation, with the interior being given a contemporary new look by local interior design specialists LaGranja.
The refurbishment of the 86-room hotel is part of a major overhaul of all the facilities at Empordà Golf by its new ownership and management team, with its two 18-hole championship golf courses and array of leisure facilities also receiving a significant upgrade.
As part of the work, Hotel Empordà Golf has been given a modern makeover by LaGranja’s team of experts with its choice of bedrooms and suites, communal areas and restaurant all being redesigned and given a new sleek interior design concept.
New head chef Vicenç Fajardo – one of the most prominent chefs in the Girona region – has been brought in to create a new restaurant concept throughout Empordà’s dining areas, while an outdoor swimming pool has been installed to help guests relax after a hard day on the fairways or exploring the many delights of the Costa Brava.
Miguel Girbés, general manager at Empordà Golf Resort, said: “The reopening of the hotel represents the start of a new modern era for the resort.
“It’s obviously been a difficult time for everyone over the last few months and it’s fantastic to be able to offer something new and exciting that all our guests can enjoy. The new interior designs that we’ve added have given the hotel a whole new look and feel, while I’m confident that the new concept being introduced in our restaurants by Vicenç Fajardo will become a firm favourite with everyone that visits.”
Situated 30 minutes from Girona in the heart of the Costa Brava region, Empordà Golf Resort is set just five minutes from some of Spain’s finest beaches and historic medieval villages.
Its impressive facilities include two 18-hole golf courses – Empordà Links and Empordà Forest, both designed world-renowned architect Robert von Hagge – and there is plenty for golfers to look forward to over the coming months as the resort is transformed into one of the premier 36-hole golfing destinations in Europe.
As part of the extensive renovation plans, both courses are undergoing significant investment to elevate the golf experience being offered to members and guests, with work being undertaken including the reconstruction of all bunkers using the Better Billy Bunker method, a comprehensive tree clearance programme and purchase of new greenkeeping equipment to improve the all-round condition of tees, fairways and greens.
Players can also look forward to an improved experience in the redesigned clubhouse, including a remodelled pro shop and new restaurant concept, while Empordà’s fresh new look is set to be captured by a significant rebrand of the resort.
