Air Malta set to resume flight operations

Air Malta Slowly Restoring its Route Network

Malta’s flag carrier Air Malta has finally decided to resume operations after the hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline will commence its summer schedule starting Wednesday, July 1. The move arrives after the Malta International Airport reopened to commercial operations. The reopening comes following a three-month closure of the airport in light of the coronavirus lockdown and decreased passenger demand.

With the reopening Air Malta will start to connect the country to 22 destinations. The carrier’s newly decided flights to Rome, Lyon and Marseille will be joining the already announced flights to Catania, Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Vienna, Zurich, Geneva, and Prague. After two weeks, the airline will also start operating flights to Amsterdam, Brussels, Milan, London Heathrow, Lisbon, Madrid, Palermo, Paris Charles De Gaulle and Orly starting July 15.

It will also start resuming flights to and from Manchester around the month of August. In a surprising turn of events, Air Malta has also decided to return to Madrid. The carrier would be flying to this route after a break of over ten years. The scheduled services to the city would restart on Saturday, July 18. In addition, the announced operations to Luxembourg will now be transferred to Brussels. However, the planned flights to Luxembourg on July 4 and July 11 will be considered as exceptions.
