Vietnam's new-age carrier Vietjet has officially announced the opening of five direct routes connecting Vietnam’s largest cities with the capital of New Delhi and Mumbai in India.

The new direct routes connecting Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang with New Delhi and Mumbai mark an important milestone for Vietjet by connecting Vietnam destinations to India, one of the world’s leading aviation markets of up to 1.3 billion population.
Speaking at the ceremony at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, said: “Vietjet’s direct flight opening records a milestone not only for the development of the airline but also marks the traditional bilateral relations between Vietnam and India. The airline’s new route announcement will contribute in promoting the pillars of the Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership, boosting mutual development in term of politics, national defense, security, economy, commerce, tourism and cultural exchange. I am confident that Vietjet will continue to be the leading airline in exploring and commencing direct services to other potential markets in the future.”
Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and the high-ranking delegation were the first passengers to experience Vietjet's VIP SkyBoss services with First Class seats on the special flight connecting Hanoi, capital city of Vietnam with the capital New Delhi in India. Vietjet's SkyBoss service offers exceptional experience with lounge access, priority services, and a selection of fresh and delicious hot meals on board.
Speaking at the ceremony in New Delhi, Honorable Minister of Civil Aviation in India, Hardeep Singh Puri, said: “India today is the world’s third largest domestic civil aviation scene. In 2018-19, the trade between India and Vietnam grew at an annual rate of 12.81% and reached USD13.69 billion. I believe that the economic relations of both countries will grow exponentially thanks to direct air connectivity of Vietjet as announced today. Congratulations Vietjet!”
The Da Nang – New Delhi and Hanoi – Mumbai routes will commence operations starting from May 14, 2020 with a frequency of five flights per week and three flights per week respectively. The Ho Chi Minh City – Mumbai route will operate four weekly flights starting from May 15, 2020. The airline currently operates the HCMC and Hanoi – New Delhi routes at a frequency of four weekly flights and three weekly flights respectively.
