An event that educates and inspires meeting and event professionals

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has announced the thirty-first European Meetings and Events Conference (EMEC20), will be held from 9-11 February 2020 in Sevilla, Spain at the Melia Sevilla Hotel. The premier conference for meeting and event professionals in Europe brings MPI executive education and inspiration to the European meeting and event community.
This year’s theme, “Push Your Boundaries,” builds from the success of EMEC19 and will carry on the tradition of changing the game. EMEC20 will push boundaries and build as an incubator for innovation. With help from the Event Design Collective and utilizing the #EventCanvas methodology, 62 EMEC volunteers from across the globe met to transform the design for 2020.
As part of the design process, the team developed 11 design principles that guided the planning process. With four design sprints, reflecting on EMEC from the past, present, and future, the team was able to design the next edition of the flagship event.

EMEC20 will be delivered through four core principles;
1. Financially, environmentally and culturally sustainable event
2. Locally flavored, grounded in Europe yet globally transferable
3. Designed for and by European members of the meeting and event community
4. Pushing boundaries on how to meet, learn and experience

“EMEC20 is built to be an incubator of innovation for the meeting and event industry, and is designed by Europeans for Europeans,” said Angeles Moreno, MPI’s Strategic Development Senior Advisor for Europe. “This year’s event will focus on how professionals can push their boundaries through strategic design, as well as financial and environmental sustainability – with a local flavor.”
Attendees will be able to participate and explore in four education tracks that include complex problem-solving, leadership skills, storytelling and persuasion, and design thinking skills. EMEC20 participants also will experience atypical adventures that include “meeting and eating” with local Sevillians, being a virtual pilot for a day, and taking home valuable lessons on stress management and decision making under pressure.
