From 11 – 13 October 2019 Hahn Air provided its NDC APIs to the IATA AIR Hackathon in Frankfurt where over 120 developers and start-ups competed to engineer innovative solutions using IATA’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) standard, alongside other Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Hahn Air’s NDC API Sandbox was used by one of the winning teams, App in the Air.
Christopher Allison, Director, NDC, commented: “We would like to congratulate App in the Air and all the winning teams for their inventive solutions. Given how much Hahn Air values innovation, we’re pleased to see Hahn Air’s APIs used by App in the Air to showcase their creative thinking and engineering talent.”
Hahn Air’s NDC Platform and Sandbox is powered by 2e Systems, who provided support over the course of the weekend to the developers using Hahn Air’s APIs and ensured the smooth operations of the Sandbox.
IATA’s thirteenth AIR Hackathon asked participants to address two challenges; a leisure traveler challenge to “come up with new ideas to meet the demand of leisure travelers that want that “one” app or solution for their trip planning and throughout the journey”, and a carbon offset challenge “to increase passenger awareness on CO2 compensation and consequently increase today’s low offset uptake of 1%”.
