Singapore Airlines (SIA) has banned some older models of Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops from its flights after the company recalled certain units with batteries that pose fire risks.
Older models of Apple’s 15 inch MacBook Pro laptops has been banned by Singapore Airlines (SIA) from its flight as the it pose fire risks.
Both in hand carry and in checked in baggage travellers will not be allowed to bring the affected models until the battery has been verifies as safe or replaced by the manufacturer.
In June Apple said that it would recall a ‘limited number’ of 15-inch MacBook Pro units as their batteries were prone to overheating. Between September 2015 and February 2017, the units were sold.
The affected laptops on all flights were banned by the United States Federal Aviation (FAA) after Apple’s recall.
The airlines was alerted about the recall and the FAA is aware of the recalled batteries being used in some Apple MacBook Pro laptops.
