BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA — Imagine discovering some of the most intriguing sites in the world on a classic rail journey, aboard special train cars with en-suite baths, lovely dining cars and a personal attendant. That’s what travelers will discover on Wilderness Travel’s one-of-a-kind Journeys by Rail collection, which has added two new trips for late 2019 and into 2020 and 2021 to both southern India and northern Russia above the Arctic Circle.
Similar to the company’s Small Cruise Ship Collection, the Golden Eagle and Deccan Odyssey passenger trains, which host the excursions, allow guests to unpack just once and enjoy an ever-changing experience as they travel to remote locations, with a fascinating day view out their window.
The trains feature state-of-the-art amenities, including remote-controlled heating and air conditioning, upscale, en suite bathrooms, and dining with meals prepared by the train’s executive chef. The trains’ first-class service also includes a personal cabin attendant available at all times.
Wilderness Travel’s existing Journeys by Rail collection include trips along the Trans-Siberian Railway, retracing the Silk Road, around the Caspian Sea and through Sicily.
The new trips will expand the rail footprint of the adventure travel company, known for its journeys that delve deep into a region’s culture, cuisine and landscapes, to southern India and northern Russia on the 15-day Madras Mail excursion and the 12-day Arctic Explorer journey.
