Ει βούλει καλώς ακούειν, μάθε καλώς λέγειν, μαθών δε καλώς λέγειν, πειρώ καλώς πράττειν, και ούτω καρπώση το καλώς ακούειν. (Επίκτητος)

In April 2020 the road link across Amur River will open and the new bridge will connect Russian far east city of Blagoveshchensk with Heihe in the northeast China.

Across the broad river the two cities are known to face each other which is known in China as the Heilongjiang. Currently they are linked by ferries in summer and floating bridge on the surface of the river in winter.

According to sources the two sides were joined on May 31.

Seven decades ago the Communist China and Soviet Union of which Russia was the largest component had established diplomatic ties.

The bridge is a key link between the two nations’ highway systems and the bridge is 4,213 feet, over three-quarters of a mile, long.  The cost is around 2.5 bn yuan  (£285m) along with the associated new roads and Russia is paying 70 per cent.

The steel girders could withstand temperatures of minus 60C during extreme winter cold.Communist China and the Soviet Union – of which Russia was the largest component – established diplomatic ties seven decades ago.

There will be more vibrant people-to-people exchange and trade ties as China will open its door wider to the world.

Travellers can access areas of Siberia with the little-visited northeast China, there will be prospect of skiing in the People’s Republic.

From the Trans-Siberian Railway between Moscow and Vladivostok there can be an east side-trip and Blagoveshchensk is on a branch from the main line.
