Sultanate awarded ‘Best International Destination for Adventure Tourism’ in India

Now in its seventh year, Travel+Leisure India & South Asia’s annual luxury travel event India’s Best Awards (IBA) happened at a glittering event at ITC Maurya, New Delhi, recently. The award was paid to Lubaina Sheerazi, India representative of the Ministry of Tourism, Oman.
Travel+Leisure launched the initial edition of IBA in 2011 with 42 categories in the international and domestic domain so as to recognise key players from the travel and tourism industry. Currently, it’s the brand’s biggest and something of the country’s finest annual luxury events.
Themed around ‘India’s Best in Class’ and based on the legendary ‘World’s Best Awards’ held by the united states edition of Travel+Leisure, its readers are invited to vote online because of their favourite luxury hotels, resorts, spas, destinations, airlines, cruiselines, travel companies and much more. Year this, IBA had over 50 categories.
The Ministry of Tourism announced the news headlines stating that the sultanate has won Best International Destination for Adventure Tourism at IBA, presented by Travel & Leisure. Lubaina said, “The award is received by us with immense pleasure and so are grateful to be recognised because the best adventure destination. We wish to especially thank all of the individuals who voted for Oman because of its authenticity, stunning beauty and rustic adventure activities.
“It has come at an enjoyable experience where Oman has witnessed 173,833 arrivals for the time from January to June 2018 with a cumulative growth of over 15 % on the same period this past year. We are pumped up about next year where hopefully to visit a greater amount of travellers from India exploring Oman.”
Since 2014, Oman has witnessed a rise of over 31 % in Indian arrivals. In 2017 alone, Oman received 321,161 Indian visitors, year showcasing a rise of over seven % in one.
Some of another global names that managed to get to the big list include Dubai and Bangkok obtaining the award for Best City; Best Emerging Destination – Denmark and Israel; Best Heritage Destination – Greece and Peru; Best Honeymoon Destination – New and Maldives Zealand; Best MICE Destination – Abu Tokyo and Dhabi; Best Wedding Destination – Bali and Tuscany; and Best Family Destination – New South Singapore and Wales.
