COMPETITION is warming up in this year’s Queensland Tourism Awards, hosted by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), as a number of the Capricorn’s most awarded tourism operators compete for gold.
With a lot more than 200 entrants state-wide across 28 categories, the Capricorn tourism industry is seeking to make its mark at the awards, on Friday which is held at The Star Gold Coast.

Following an enormous, seasoned entrants Capricorn Caves and Empire Rockhampton want to increase their assortment of accolades and first-time entrants Korte’s Resort and Rockhampton River Festival are keen to be put into the set of winners.
Beef Australia took out a Bronze award because of its last event in 2015, however they hope Beef2018 will win Gold.
2018 Queensland Tourism Award Entrants include Beef Australia 2018, Capricorn Caves, Empire Apartment Hotel Rockhampton, Empire Conference Centre Rockhampton, Korte’s Resort and the Rockhampton River Festival.
Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said she was pleased with our hard working tourism operators who shoot for excellence each day of the week to guarantee the visitor experience to your destination is definitely exceptional.
“We all have been very worked up about having an archive amount of entries for the Capricorn region and hope that people may bring home an archive amount of Gold, Bronze or silver Awards with respect to our area of the Southern Great Barrier Reef Destination,” a delighted Ms Carroll said.
Member for Rockhampton, Barry O’Rourke, said the awards would showcase the very best of Rockhampton’s tourism experiences.
“I’m pleased with Beef Australia, Rockhampton Regional Council and the Cassidy Group to be nominated for Major Events and Festivals, Events and festivals, Business Event Venues and Deluxe Accommodation respectively.
“Quality local businesses like they are showing the planet just what a great place Rockhampton would be to visit,” Mr O’Rourke said.
“That is a chance to celebrate with this tourism operators for showcasing the wonder of our region and the fantastic experiences available.
“Gold Winners could have the chance to represent Queensland as nominees for the 2019 Australian Tourism Awards.”

Mr O’Rourke said the awards were the ultimate celebration of Queensland Tourism, the state’s tourism forum on the Gold Coast combining government, tourism and industry operators to go over ways of grow the tourism sector and boost events.
