ISTANBUL - As Turkey's skyrocketing medical tourism rates are increasing year by year, the Turkish government has come up with certain regulations for all medical tourism companies to follow in order to ensure the quality, safety, and legitimacy of the service. Some patients may doubt about the quality of service due to the price gap in plastic surgery and hair transplantation in Turkey compared to Europe. These doubts are not groundless considering the lack of strict inspection and control by the government. Thanks to the Ministry's intervention, the accreditation guarantees a universal standard in service and treatment quality now. Some of the standards are: providing a patient care service in at least two languages for 7/24, insurance in the travel package, informing the patients with all the details about the doctors available, and the patient's absolute right to make an official complaint.

Istanbul is where the majority of medical tourists get treatments and it has nearly 400 medical travel companies. Thus, it may be difficult for patients to choose the good ones.
