A recent change was announced in the UK passport rules indicating that the travellers renewing their document will not have the unexpired period of their old passport added.
Passport renewals until now took into consideration nine months’ validity of the old document which has the provision of being added ahead of the expiry date.
However, from the start of this week the practice is no longer used and as per a leading media the policy changed on Monday without any notification.
As per the news rules there will be penalty for those travelling to countries that has six-month validity but currently the travellers can renew in advance of travel without any penalty.
It is expected that there might be an increase in applications just before the peak travel season.
