  • ERA (the European Regions Airline Association*) hosted its annual media briefing on 20th of March at the Royal Aeronautical Society in London, welcoming key aviation journalists and trade media to learn about the association's work and the latest developments in the aviation industry.
  • The briefing covered current hot topics for aviation and featured updates from ERA's President Andrew Kelly, ERA's Director General Montserrat Barriga and Peter Morris, Chief Economist at aviation intelligence provider FlightGlobal.
ERA Media Briefing provides a great opportunity for media to discuss current aviation issues in Europe and learn about the association's work. To begin the briefing, ERA's President Andrew Kelly welcomed the media and discussed the important role ERA plays in Europe in looking after the interests of the aviation industry.

"ERA is the voice of European aviation and represents the entire spectrum of airlines, airports, manufacturers and suppliers within the industry. While our industry is healthy and thriving, it faces several ongoing challenges and ERA, as a long-standing, credible and very well-respected trade body, interacts with the EU's regulatory bodies and key decision makers to ensure our members' concerns are heard. Our relationships with these important entities continue to be strong, proactive and effective and as an association, ERA is in excellent shape," Andrew Kelly commented at the briefing.

Peter Morris, Chief Economist at FlightGlobal, then provided an overview of the current European aviation market and ERA's Director General Montserrat Barriga discussed the association's current priorities and top industry issues for the next three years, including EU261, Brexit, regulatory burden and consolidation. "ERA, as the only association representing the entire spectrum of companies involved in European aviation, ensures that our industry's views are represented before Europe's key policymakers and regulators, promoting a healthy, safe and growing European aviation market," Barriga commented.
