For those of you not keeping track, today marks the 50 day countdown until MSC Seaside graces the United States with her presence on December 21. As the first ship for MSC Cruises to go directly from the shipyard to America, MSC Seaside will be welcomed with a naming ceremony led by screen legend and godmother Sophia Loren, and attended by Miami Dolphins alum Dan Marino.
Currently being finished in Monfalcone, Italy, Seaside will depart to Trieste where she will begin her transatlantic sailing to her homeport of Miami, Florida. The voyage will leave on December 1, and the ship will arrive in Miami on December 21, 2017. After a two-day special launch event, MSC Seaside will depart on her first 7-night Caribbean sailing on December 23 – just in time for Christmas.
The ship will sail year-round from Miami to various destinations in the Caribbean, offering 7-night eastern and western itineraries. Each element of the ship has been thoughtfully designed to bring guests closer to the ocean, and give them more spaces to enjoy the outdoors. In addition to an ocean level promenade, there are outdoor restaurants and bars, fitness facilities, spa cabanas, a spacious cabin balconies for maximum time in the sun. Seaside will also have the largest spa and gym in MSC Cruises’ fleet to date, and feature an invigorating snow room.
MSC Seaside is MSC’s 2nd new ship to launch this year, part of the cruise line’s nearly $10 billion investment plan for a total of 11 next-gen ships to come into service between 2017 and 2026.
