British Airways is looking forward to raise the number of flights it operates between Inverness and Heathrow from the following year.
The airline said that it would be expanding its service from seven flights every week to 10 from 10th March onwards. The flights would be operational on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Regional business leaders feel that the announcement is ‘excellent news’ for the economy of Highlands since more tourists can be expected in this part of the world.

The fresh schedule offers additional two-way connectivity with destinations including Berlin, Phoenix, San Diego, Atlanta and Mexico City.
Lyon went on to add that over 10% extra inbound passengers to the Islands and Highlands are ready to explore all the north of Scotland.
Inverness Chamber of Commerce, Stewart Nicol said that this represents great news for the Highlands and Islands and Inverness since it strengthens one of the most essential routes out of Inverness Airport.
He feels that this is a very important development as it goes a long way in improving connectivity between the highland capital and the most important hub airport of the UK.
The fresh direct route would be starting from 3rd July onwards.
