This season a record number of 16 cruise vessels would be docked.
The Sea Princess is scheduled to arrive here on Friday. The cruise vessel would be ushering in as many as 17,000 visitors for the season of 2017 to 2018 and three more ships than the period of 2016 to 2017 would be arriving at this port.
The Sea Princess alone has the capability to bring nearly 2,300 passengers to the region.
Nicholas Fertin who is the chief executive of Southern Ports mentioned that visiting cruise vessels were guaranteed berth space in Albany to encourage tourism through the port.
Cruise ships ensure a good deal of vibrancy and tourism revenues to the regional economy, he feels.
Guests on board these cruise ships would be observing a new entry experience this season through a pavilion to offer shelter from the weather. Dennis Wellington who is the Mayor of Albany said that the fresh arrival experience designed by Southern Ports would make sure that visitors were safeguarded and enjoyed a sense of occasion on arrival.
In the month of January there is a special WWI memorial-themed cruise that has been planned.
In addition there were three cruise ships named Crystal Symphony, L’Austral and Azamara Journey would be visiting Albany for the very first time. The Sea Princess would be present at the Albany port between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday.
