The Category 5 storm Hurricane Irma threatens to hit the US coast around the Florida peninsula leading to major travel disruption for the US and UK travellers.

British Airways authority warned of the travel disruption and Claire Matthews, British Airways meteorologist mentioned at present Irma is advancing towards  Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Island. It has the potential of hitting Florida by weekend.

Places like Orlando, Miami, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale will be monitored so that the impact on the flight can be monitored.

The track of Hurricane Irma reveals that it will move over the Straits of Florida before nearing the Florida coast by 7 am on Sunday (September 10).

Due to the threat of Hurricane Irma British Airways offers daily flights to the peninsular state. Flights connecting the hurricane-battered Antigua got cancelled and an empty aircraft was sent to bring back holiday makers on the island.

Boris Johnson mentioned that they were constantly updating the travel advice to people visiting there. There is a threat of a very big storm and all arrangements a ship full of relief and supplies on stand-by has been made.
