Mama Shelter, the global collection of authentic hotels, has announced its market entry into Serbia with plans to open Mama Shelter Belgrade. The property will be located along Ulica Knez Mihailova - Prince Michael Street - the iconic pedestrian promenade in the Serbian capital and is expected to open in early 2018.
“As Mama spreads her hospitality with new properties across the world, we continue to hold true to our commitment to only bring her to cities where we would want to live ourselves,” said Mama Shelter Founder, Serge Trigano. “A city where ice cream is served from 6am, restaurants and bars are open until dawn, and it is safe to walk parks in the middle of night, is a place Mama needs to be.”
With cutting-edge design elements specially crafted by Jalil Amor, Mama Shelter Belgrade will have 125 rooms. The décor will pay homage to the capital’s Ottoman history with richly women kilim rugs on the floors and a palate of matte colors, vintage prints, and welcoming sofas that rework the eastern bloc aesthetic.
Guests will find themselves atop a 5,000 square foot epic terrace with exceptional views of The White City’s ancient citadels and concrete towers. The massive 5,000 square foot restaurant will serve everything from homemade sorbets and ice creams to wood-fired pizzas. Seating will include long dining tables to encourage mingling and fan out into a lounge for travelers and locals to dance to live music, sip craft cocktails, and engage in intimate conversation.
Mama Shelter Belgrade will be one of two Mama properties in Eastern Europe, with Mama Shelter Prague opening in early 2018 as well.
