The Davao Tourism Conference (Tcon) 2017 is expected to attract around 200 stakeholders at the Pinnacle Hotel and Suites in Davao City today on September 22. Davao Tourism Association (Data) president Gatchi Gatchalian said that capitalizing the record number of visitors in the recent Kadayawan festival and the launch of the new direct flights to and from this city, the conference would find ways to use these opportunities to attract more tourists and help the industry grow.
With the theme: “Sulong Turismo Davao,” this conference has the support of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO). Gatchalian said the event aims to boost the city’s tourism industry and attract more tourists. He added that it the conference also aims to unite tourism stakeholders toward a solid marketing framework for Davao City as the main tourism hub.
Gatchalian said, “With the recent positive developments like new direct flights, we hope to develop and map out strategies for our tourism stakeholders to increase our tourist arrivals.” He added that better connectivity with other cities and the possibility of new direct flights to Kuala Lumpur and China are in the pipeline. There will also be greater opportunities of income and getting jobs via tourism.
