China has been confirmed as the most dynamic cruise market with an annual growth of about 76% between the years 2013 and 2016, following a report published by Asia Cruise Trends, thanks to Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).

The report also reveals that as much as 3.1 million Asians had taken cruises in the year 2016 that represents 55% more than the same period in 2015.

Out of them, 2.1 million belonged to mainland China. It is actually a market that almost doubled as it grew by 99% last year.

Some of the other highlights of the report comprise:

Greater number of ships in Asian waters

In 2017, 66 cruise vessels are currently being deployed in Asian waters. Five of them are giant vessels (over 3,500 passenger capacity) while 26 of the deployed ships would be mid-sized, and 17 seasonal small upscale ships would be active in the Asian region.

Apart from that, the Expedition niche would be having five cruise ships deployed in limited seasons.

In 2013, there were just about 43 cruise ships cruising in the waters of Asia representing a growth of nearly 53% ever since the year 2013.

Increased Operating Days in 2017

The Asian cruise industry has 10,196 operating days in Asia scheduled for 2017 marking a rise of 137% from 4,307 operating days in 2013 and also a rise of about 25% over the 8,171 operating days in 2016.

Asian Travellers generally Prefer Checking out Asian locales

Asian cruise travellers are known to taking cruise excursions in this region. Out of the 2,086 sailings that have been scheduled for 2017 about 1,992 cruises would be remaining within Asia, and this includes Asia-to-Asia itineraries.
