European flights increased by 4.5% in March 2017 compared with March 2016, matching the baseline forecast. Preliminary data for April 2017 show an increase of 3.3% in flights on April 2016.
ICAO reported that average global passenger load factor (scheduled services) reached 80.3% in 2016 compared with 80.4% in 2015 and was the second highest level in the last ten years.
Oil prices were up to €51 per barrel in April from €50 per barrel in March.
airBaltic launches flights between Riga and Geneva
The Latvian airline airBaltic on May 4, 2017, launched a direct route linking Riga and Geneva. The route offers convenient travel options for travellers from Switzerland and Baltic States.

airBaltic flies from Geneva to Riga 3 times weekly. Passengers will board a Boeing 737 aircraft for a flight that lasts 2 hours and 50 minutes.
Aristides Carrillo appointed Manager of The Spa at Viceroy Riviera Maya
Viceroy Riviera Maya has announced the appointment of Aristides Carrillo to the position of manager of the resort’s spa, announced Pedro Lara, General Manager.

Mr. Carrillo comes to The Spa at Viceroy Riviera Maya with 18 years of management experience at leading hotel and resort spas. Prior to joining the team at Viceroy Riviera Maya, he was Assistant Director of Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Mayakoba. Previous positions include Spa & Gymnasium Director at Le Meridien Cancun Resort & Spa, Assistant Spa Manager at Me Cancun, and Assistant Spa Director at The Ritz- Carlton Cancun.
Delta statement regarding Flight 2222, Maui to Los Angeles, on April 23, 2017
Delta Air Lines issued the following statement today regarding Flight 2222 on April 23:
"We are sorry for the unfortunate experience our customers had with Delta, and we’ve reached out to them to refund their travel and provide additional compensation. Delta's goal is to always work with customers in an attempt to find solutions to their travel issues. That did not happen in this case and we apologize."
