Chinese tourists are a priority for Europe

Current records show that China is the richest country in the world by GDP with a growing and affluent middle class, who are willing to spend huge amount of money for buying luxury goods while traveling abroad. As a result, various global destinations are also battling for attracting the rapidly growing tourist Yuan.

For Europe, Chinese tourists constitute the largest chunk of travelers. It’s now the choicest destination for Chinese tourists, and hence, Europe is now concerned about how to keep this trend going on in the coming times. It was announced at the EU-China summit in July that 2018 would be the EU-China Tourism Year. This will provide great opportunities for EU tourism businesses for exploring and understanding the Chinese market. They have planned various initiatives for attracting Chinese tourists to the EU. There will also be B2B events, webinars and extensive research programmes for improving European tourism community’s awareness of Chinese travelers’ behaviors and requirements.

To quote Tom Jenkins, CEO, ETOA, the European tourism association, “China is a huge market, but young in every sense in that the demographics of the average traveller are more youthful.”
