In global tourism scenario, international tourism grew 4.0% in the first half of the year with Asia witnessing the strongest growth, as established by the World Tourism Organization. Compared to last year, number of international tourists swelled 21 million between January to June.
Tourism has been one of the most profitable economic sectors globally. In the Asia-Pacific region, tourist arrivals increased at rapid rate with Africa also witnessing 5% increase in international tourists. In Europe, tourist arrival went up by 3% while Western Europe with just 1% growth. However, North, Central and Eastern Europe saw 5% international arrivals.
In the Americas, international arrivals went up by 4% in the first half of the year. Chinese people spent more than 20% on international travel. International travel is expected to go up this year
