MEXICO CITY—Atelier de Hoteles, a Mexican hotel chain, is planning a $70-million investment to open 20 hotels, totaling 5,000 rooms, in various cities and leisure destinations in Mexico.
The move will create 10,000 direct jobs during the next five years across Mexico, according to the brand.
"We want to improve the experience of travelers, and we are ready to face the challenges posed by the hospitality industry of this millennium. That is why we will rate our hotels using different parameters… in order to have better communication with contemporary travelers," said Francisco Gutiérrez, CEO of Atelier de Hoteles.
The brand classification proposed by Atelier de Hoteles begins with MET, an urban brand, which makes its first appearance as "Opera Prima;" followed by all-inclusive, family-friendly brand Estudio classified as "Opera Magna;" and all-inclusive, adults-only brand Atelier, identified as "Masterpiece," whose purpose is to redefine luxury and Mexican sophistication. Lastly, hybrid brand, ÓLEO, takes existing hotels and reinvents them, uses an "A Tempo" category.
Atelier de Hoteles will open Óleo Cancun Playa in February 2017, Estudio Cancun Centro is slated to open in July 2017 and Atelier Playa Mujeres is expected to open in December 2017.
