Celebrity Cruises’ ship Celebrity Solstice is set to undergo a massive, $8.5 million makeover late next month. New features will include “A Taste of Film” experience under the stars, authentic Japanese food at Sushi on Five, and other additions.
Makeover Details
Suites
The suites aboard the ship will be modernized, including new patio furniture for the balconies.
A Taste of Film
This ship will be the first among the Solstice-class to offer the iconic culinary adventure, which pairs films that evoke a specific cultural, culinary, or destination experience with cuisine that brings the scenes on the screen to guests’ taste buds. The activity will be hosted in The Lawn Club, where a large movie screen will be added. Alcove-style cabanas will line the grass lawn for more seating, and guests will be able to adjust them to their preferred view as the day goes on.
Sushi on Five
Bistro on Five is being reimagined into Sushi on Five, designed with sushi chef Yoshikazu Okada. The menu will be a la carte, and feature hand-rolled sushi, fresh tableside grated wasabi, house-made soy sauce, Asian-inspired cocktails, Japanese beers and sakes, and a variety of starters and entrees.
Photo Gallery
The ship’s photo gallery will be receiving a full makeover. The traditional panel display of printed photos will be removed, and guests will now be able to view their pictures on 25 touch screen kiosks. They can download their photos directly to their smartphone, and instantly share their cruise memories with those back home via social media, email, or messaging. Additionally, a large Art Gallery will emerge from the current photo gallery, featuring an auction location with contemporary art in the fresh space.
Celebrity Solstice will enter dry dock in Singapore on October 22, and be finished by October 31. The revitalized vessel will arrive just in time for the transition into Australia’s summer season, featuring itineraries in Indonesia, New Zealand, and across Australia.
