Air Mauritius launched its first direct flight to Guangzhou yesterday, 12 July 2016. Air Mauritius will operate a weekly scheduled flight to Guangzhou using its A340-300 aircraft configured with 34 seats in Business Class and 266 in Economy Class.
With the introduction of a flight to Canton Baiyun airport in Guangzhou and one additional flight to Shanghai as from July, Air Mauritius will operate a total of 9 weekly flights to China, namely Shanghai, Hong Kong, Beijing, Chengdu and Guangzhou.
Last year Air Mauritius offered 124,506 seats to China. This number will increase to 163,540 in 2016/2017 which represents a growth of 31% of seat capacity to China.
“Guangzhou destination is an important step in the creation of the Africa Asia Air Corridor. Demand for Guangzhou has exceeded our expectations with our first flights being fully booked. We have also noted a great demand for this flight from our passengers from Reunion, Madagascar and South Africa. At this pace, we are confident that we will soon increase our frequency to 2 flights weekly to Guangzhou” says Megh Pillay, the CEO of Air Mauritius.
