Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas makes a tragic start

Harmony of the Seas, claiming to be the biggest cruise ship in the world which was launched on May 22 from Southampton to Rotterdam is still not ready to sail.

There were a number of complaints via social media from passengers citing flaws that the new 361 meter long cruise ship had open holes on the floor and walls. The dining rooms had long waiting lines and there were noises all night from workmen who were aboard the ship. All these were faced by passengers in the pre inaugural four day voyage that the ship launched.

People posted photos of big open holes in the giant cruise, there was wet paint and the ship was dubbed as “Calamity of Seas”.

A spokesperson of the Royal Caribbean Cruises however, said that that the majority passengers were enjoying the Harmony of the Seas features which are open and are being enjoyed by guests and that they were adding the finishing touches. They also thanked the guests for showing patience and reassured that the areas were being addressed.

The cruise ship measuring 227,000 gross ton is currently moored in Vigo, Spain, and will continue its voyage to Malaga, where it is expected to dock on June 3, according to AIS data provided by Marine Traffic. The vessel is scheduled to arrive in Barcelona, Spain on June 5.

The inaugural season for the cruise ship starting from June, will sail the Western Mediterranean from Barcelona, Spain, before arriving at its homeport of Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale, Florida in November 2016 from where it will sail the Caribbean.

Harmony of the Seas has 2,747 staterooms, 18 decks, 23 swimming pools, 42 bars and the tallest slide at sea, making it our most extraordinary ship yet. Once ready the ship promises to be a marvel. A virtual tour of the ship has been created to give cruisers the anticipated flavour, the real one is yet to come though.
