According to data compiled by STR Global, compared to October 2014, Europe reported a 2.5% increase in occupancy to 76.1%, a 6.5% increase in average daily rate to EUR117.78 and a 9.2% increase in revenue per available room to EUR89.58. Turkish Hotels Association - TUROB announced Turkey's hotel industry report with the October 2015 data compiled by STR Global.
The occupancy rate in Turkish hotels continued its drop in October and reported a 6.4% drop to 60.5%. In October 2014, it was recorded as 64.6%. Despite a drop in October 2015, Turkey reported a 0.5% increase in occupancy to 63.5% during the January – October 2015 period. In the first 10 months period of 2015, European hotel industry recorded 71.6% occupancy.
In Europe, the ADR (Average Daily Rate) in October 2014 was €113.6; ADR dropped to €100.8 in October 2015. However, ADR in the first 10 months increased to €108.9 in 2015 from €108.5 last year.
Istanbul hotels recorded a 6.7% drop in occupancy to 64.3% in October 2015. The main reason behind the drop is shown as the difficulties in congress tourism. The ADR in October 2015 reported as €123.8 which was dropped 15.5% from €146.5 in Oct. 2014. RevPAR or revenue per available room also dropped 21.1% to €79.6. It was €100.9 in Oct. 2014. During the first 10 months, the occupancy in Istanbul hotels saw 67.2%. It was 65.9% same period last year. In the first 10 months, ADR dropped from €134.7 to €126.2 and RevPAR dropped from €88.8 to €84.8.
Turkey’s most visited city by tourists; Antalya and surroundings recorded a 4% drop in occupancy in Oct. 2015 to 57.7%. It was 60.1% in Oct. 2014. Following the rising tensions between Turkey and Russia, more drops are expected. ADR in Antalya rise 14.1% to €93.49. ADR in Oct.’14 was €81.9. RevPAR also increased 9.4% to €53.9. It was €49.2 in Oct’14. In the first 10 months of 2015, occupancy rate in Antalya hotels reported 61.9%, it was 64.4% in Jan-Oct 2014. In the same period, RevPAR increased from €63.5 in 2014 to €73.8.
Turkish capital Ankara reported 3.8% increase in hotel occupancy to 63.6% in Oct. 2015. It was 61.3% in Oct.2014. ADR increased in Oct’15 to €83.3 from €81.6 in Oct.’14; a 2% increase. RevPAR also increased by 5.9% to €52.9. In the first 10 months of 2015, Ankara’s hotel occupancy rate reported increase from 59.3% to 60%. ADR rise from €76.8 to €81.6 and RevPAR increased from €45.5 to €49.0.
