easyJet launches new Glasgow - Milan Malpensa route

Scotland’s largest airline easyJet launches new Glasgow - Milan Malpensa service, which is expected to carry 26,000 annually. The route is Glasgow’s first direct connection to Milan. The airline already flies to Milan Malpensa from Edinburgh, London Gatwick and London Luton. Ali Gayward, easyJet’s Head of Scotland, said, “Milan’s rich history, range of shops and extensive choice of restaurants are amongst the key attractions for visitors to Milan and we believe that this will prove a popular addition to our existing network.”
Flights operate twice weekly on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s with fares starting from £25.49 one way per person.
The new route provides Scottish passengers with the opportunity to visit one of Europe’s top citybreak destinations; it has huge potential to generate significant in-bound tourism for Glasgow and the West of Scotland.
Boasting a rich history, Milan attracts historians and culture enthusiasts worldwide with sights including Milan’s elaborate cathedral, Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper at the Santa Maria delle Grazie Church, La Scala opera house and Castello Sforzesco all of which survived the extensive WW2 damage.
Milan is also home to some of the greatest masterpieces of Italian art. Visit the Brera Art Gallery for displays from the XIV to the XX century, including the famous Raphael’s “Marriage of the Virgin”, or wander through the galleries in Milan’s main museum ‘Pinacoteca’ famous for its prestigious collection of ancient and modern paintings.
Milan is also well renowned for its shopping - Armani, Versace, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci - the list of international and world class designers gracing the streets of Milan is endless. Even the savviest of shoppers will be sure to exhaust themselves at the designers’ flagship stores in the Quadrilatero d’Oro 'Golden Quad'. The city is also filled with boutiques stocking emerging labels, chic concept shops and discount outlets selling samples and last season’s cast-offs! For those who prefer the bustle of street markets, take a trip to those at Viale Papiniano, Via Zivetti and Fiera di Senigallia.
With an extensive choice of restaurants, those visiting Milan will never be short of an eatery. The city bears host to another winner of the exclusive chain of worldwide Nobu restaurants, whilst the modern interiors inspired by master chef Carlo Cracco at ‘Cracco’ offer superb fine dining, not to mention the pasta dishes at Il Luogo di Aimo e Nadia far outreaching even the toughest competitors.
