Southwest Airlines will start nonstop service to St. Louis from Pittsburgh International Airport beginning March 10. The flight will be once daily each way. Southwest will start fares as low as $69 one way. Southwest launched service from Pittsburgh International Airport on May 4, 2005 with nonstop service to four cities. With today’s announcement, the airline will serve 15 nonstop destinations from Pittsburgh, including Las Vegas, Orlando, and Dallas with nearly 30 flights a day.
The St. Louis flight will depart Pittsburgh daily at 8:25 a.m.
“We were very excited to celebrate Southwest’s 10th anniversary in Pittsburgh earlier this year, and we are delighted that they continue to recognize the need for additional service here at Pittsburgh International Airport,” Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis said. “This is emblematic of strong community partnership and support from all of our stakeholders.”
Pittsburgh International Airport currently serves 51 cities nonstop, up from 37 two years ago. Passenger traffic is up about one percent year-to-date.
