Memorandum of Understanding & Cooperation between National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical & Cultural Preserve (Ukraine) and Geo Routes Cultural Institute (Greece) signed early 2015, in an aim at strengthening the inter-cultural dialogue, the mutual understanding, the familiarization and the cultural awareness between Ukraine & Greece.
The Director General of National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical & Cultural Preserve Mr. Lubomyr Mykhaylyna and the President of Geo Routes Cultural Institute Mr. Giannis Balakakis have agreed to set up working committees to develop and deliver projects related to the promotion of the Cultural Heritage, the Environmental protection, the Social Responsibility and the Sustainable Development .
About Kiev Pechersk Lavra in Kiev, Ukraine: was founded in 1051 as a historic Orthodox Christian monastery and together with the Cathedral of Saint Sophia are inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Under the administration of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine the complex includes the State Museum National Kiev-Pechersk Historic-Cultural Preserve, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the residence of the Metropolitan Onuphrius, the Great Lavra Belltower, numerous churches, St.Nicholas Monastery, the Kiev Theological Academy as well a very complex system of narrow underground catacombs, that housing numerous living quarters and underground chapels.
About Geo Routes Cultural Institute: Geo & Aegean Routes experiential, cultural & environmental journeys which held under the auspices of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO and the support of the European Commission Representation in Greece.
