Samurai and ninja will be welcoming overseas travelers at the Kansai International Airport as part of the Kansai International Tourism Year 2015. The Kansai Region, where Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe are located, is a popular tourist destination filled with many historical and cultural treasures of Japan; nearly 50 world heritage sites are situated in this region.
The Kansai International Tourism Year Management Committee of the Union of Kansai Governments will be organizing an event featuring these prestigious world heritages with the additional presence of the adorable local promotional mascot characters “Shiromaruhi me” of Himeji Castle and “Hikonyan” of Hikone Castle.
Visitors arriving on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th March at Kansai International Airport (KIX) can experience a moment back in time.
“Kansai International Tourism Year 2015” Promotion Event – Time Travel KANSAI” will be held in front of the Kansai Tourist Information Center on the 1st floor of Terminal 1.
The event includes the following:
- Large panel display and distribution of information featuring world heritage sites in the Kansai Region
- Samurai show/samurai action class/ninja shuriken throwing star demonstration/photo events with ninja and mascot characters
Each day, the first 100 visitors will get free souvenirs from the Kansai Region by answering quizzes and questionnaire
