A great help for little ones: The fundraising campaign of topbonus, the frequent flyer program of airberlin, raised almost 125,000 euros for social aid projects in December 2014. Anton Lill, Managing Director of topbonus, has just handed over more than 17,000 euros of this to Regine Sixt at the International Travel Trade Show (ITB). The money is destined for their foundation called “Drying Little Tears”.
“I’m delighted with the generous donation from topbonus. This will make a significant contribution to our work. We consider it our duty to help the countless children living in poverty and suffering from disease in the world and to enable them to have a better life”, said Regine Sixt at the donation ceremony. The Sixt Foundation does everything it can to achieve this goal. Regine Sixt continued: “I can’t stress enough how important the support of topbonus is to us. This entire donation will directly benefit the children at one of our aid projects in Mexico”. The aid projects are devoted to expanding a preschool for neglected children in Mexico, among other things.
The miles of topbonus participants and topbonus fundraising campaigns were used to raise almost 110,000 euros for the “Menschen für Menschen Foundation – Karlheinz Böhm’s Ethiopian Aid Programme”. “We’d like to thank topbonus and its members for their dedication and generous support of our work in Ethiopia. Wonderful campaigns such as these make it possible for us to improve the lives of many people, giving them a chance for a better future”, said Dr Peter Schaumberger, Member of the Menschen für Menschen Foundation’s Board. The donated money will now go to projects which provide people in Ethiopia with access to clean drinking water, for example. Children in Ethiopia will also receive primary education thanks to the fundraising campaign. The donation will also allow children to receive important combination vaccines.
During the Christmas campaign, topbonus members had donated a total of 19,000,000 of their miles. “I’d like to thank all the topbonus members who have supported these two important social projects by donating their miles. We received over 7,000 donations in just one month. This is an excellent response. It was the first time we’d ever run such a campaign”, said Anton Lill.
