Luxury Swiss watchmaker Oris has taken sponsorship of the spectacular world-famous "Immortals" aerobatic "barnstorming" team at the Australian International Airshow 2015.
Performing high-energy "heart-stopping" aerial routines, the "Immortals" are the stars of the US air show circuit. They replace the "Fire Stars" synchronised formation team previously being sponsored by Oris at Avalon 2015.
The Oris "Immortals" are world-renowned. Their amazing aerial "antics" startle, captivate and amaze. They leave their awe-struck audiences in wonderment as to how they do what they do!.
This spectacular three-person team features the thrilling, gravity-defying skills of Lithuanian legend Jurgis Kairys and American duo Skip Stewart and Melissa Pemberton.
Kairys is among the masters of the international aerobatic circuit and is a winner of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) World Grand Prix.
He pioneered many of the spectacular manoeuvres upon which modern aerobatics is judged.
His teammate Skip Stewart will fly an aircraft dubbed Prometheus, part Pitts Special, part Stewart’s own invention.
He has flown more than 10,000 hours giving exhibitions around the world.
Rounding out the trio is Melissa Pemberton, one of the world’s leading female aerobatic performers and a highly accomplished flier in her own right.
She is also a free flying skydiver with more than 300 base jumps to her credit and is also a champion rock climber.
This lady of many talents aims to provide a positive example to young people, women in particular, via her motto "no dream is too big and nothing is impossible".
The Oris Immortals will be a major highlight of Airshow 2015 and promise a breath-taking and highly memorable display.
Originally, Oris was to sponsor the Chinese-based Fire Stars formation aerobatic team which has been forced to withdraw from the event for logistic reasons.
However, the split-second timing and incredible precision, and world-wide reputation, of the awesome "Immortals" make them the perfect partner for leading quality-watchmaker Oris.
The Australian International Airshow has scheduled public sessions on the afternoon of Friday 27th February and then all day Saturday and Sunday.
