The National Travel & Tourism Office (NTTO) of United States announced total number of air passengers flying to and from U.S. in 2014. The announcement also includes details of international traffic, Top 10 U.S. and foreign airports, Top 10 countries for U.S. air traffic, Top 10 Airlines serving U.S. international non-stop markets.
International non-stop air traffic to/from the U.S. totaled 197.3 million passengers in 2014, a seven percent increase over 2013. U.S. citizen travel (86.4 million) was up almost seven percent and comprised 44 percent of all air traffic.
Non-U.S. citizen air travelers (110.4 million) increased by six percent with their market share at 56 percent, relatively unchanged from 2013.
U.S. airlines carried 102.1 million passengers, up four percent, with their share at 52 percent, down from 2013. Foreign flags carried 95.2 million passengers, up 10 percent from 2013.

Overseas air traffic accounted for 146.5 million passengers, 74 percent of all international, and grew by six percent in 2014.
U.S. citizen travel (64.5 million) was up almost six percent comprising 44 percent of overseas air traffic. Non-U.S. citizen air travel (82.0 million) was up by six percent with their market share at 56 percent.
U.S. airlines carried 72.3 million passengers, up three percent, their share at 49 percent. Foreign flags carried 74.2 million passengers, up nine percent from 2013.

North American markets accounted for 26 percent of U.S. international air traffic flows.
Canadian air traffic accounted for 27.5 million passengers, 14 percent of all international traffic, and increased by seven percent.
U.S. citizen travel (7.6 million) increased eight percent and comprised 27 percent of air traffic. Canadian, and other foreign national citizen air travelers transiting through Canada (20.0 million), increased by six percent. Market share was at 73 percent.
U.S. flags carried 12.3 million passengers, up three percent from 2013, with their share at almost 45 percent. Foreign flags carried 15.2 million passengers, up 11 percent, increasing market share.

Mexico air traffic accounted for 23.3 million passengers, 12 percent of all international traffic, and was up 10 percent.
U.S. citizen travel (14.4 million) increased 11 percent and comprised 62 percent of air traffic. Mexicans, and other foreign national air travelers (8.9 million) transiting through Mexico, increased by eight percent, with market share 38 percent.
U.S. flags carried 17.5 million passengers, up eight percent from 2013, however their share slipped to 75 percent. Foreign flags carried 5.8 million passengers, up 18 percent increasing share to 25 percent.
