According to announcement made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, after the tender bid planned to be held on January, Istanbul's current metro line will be extended 6.5 km.
The construction of the new 6.5km-metroline will serve with three stations on the Kabataş-Beşiktai-Darphane-Mecidiyeköy districts.
With this metro line, the 8 districts consisting of Beyoğlu, Beşiktaş, Şişli, Kağıthane, Eyüp, Gaziosmanpaşa, Esenler and Bağcılar will be linked up. It will be 24.5 km after linking with Kabataş and then Halkalı Toplu Konutlar-Altınşehir-Başakşehir. It is planned that it will become the most important junction point of Istanbul when it will be completed.
In order to use in the Kabataş-Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey Metro-line Project, 144 wagons will be provided. It is planned that the metro line will be completed in 2017 and Kabataş-Mecidiyeköy line at the end of 2018.
The stations of Kabataş-Mahmutbey metro-line are Kabataş, Beşiktaş, Darphane, Mecidiyeköy, Çağlayan, Kağıthane, Nurtepe, Alibeyköy, Yeşilpınar, Veysel Karani, Akşemsettin, Kazım Karabekir, Yenimahalle, Karadeniz Mahallesi, Tekstilkent, Yüzyıl Mahallesi, Göztepe ve Mahmutbey.
