The Hotel Riu Palace Meloneras, which originally opened in 1997, shows its new image today, the 29th of August, with an increase from 4 to 5 stars.
The refurbishment of this iconic hotel located in the south of Gran Canaria involved a 30 million Euro investment; it has been carried out both on the complex's exteriors and interiors, following the new style that the RIU Hotels chain is introducing for its latest projects.
The 449 rooms, both in the main building and in the garden villas, have been fully refurbished with contemporary furniture and modern services, such as 42-inch satellite flat screen televisions, electronic safes and free Wi-Fi Internet throughout the hotel.
The resort will have six swimming pools. Two of these are infinity pools, which feature the Blue de Mar pool bar and the Ocean's View pool snack-bar, which at night will offer guests all the pleasures of Spanish cuisine; another three pools are dedicated to water sports and full relaxation by a solarium terrace; and another is for the hotel's young visitors. All these are heated during the winter months.
