Messe Frankfurt is increasing its focus on digital business and stepping up its management of worldwide digital activities. Effective 1 September, Kai Hattendorf (44) will be Head of Digital Business, the business division he has been setting up together with Head of Strategy Klaus Reinke (56) over the past three years parallel to his function as Vice President Corporate Communications and Marketing.
Wolfgang Marzin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Messe Frankfurt: “We see digitisation as one of the central challenges facing the trade fair sector and will be making sustainable investments here in the coming years in order to pave the way for future growth in the Group. With Kai Hattendorf, we will have an internationally renowned innovator in this field at the helm.”
Over the past few years, Hattendorf and Klaus Reinke set up Digital Business as part of New Business. In future, the division will operate as an independent business field and will be afforded the same strategic importance as the Group’s core event business.
Messe Frankfurt’s digital products and services are brought together under the brand “Dexperty – digital expertise by Messe Frankfurt”. As well as the smartphone apps, which have won several international awards, these include exhibitor and product portals that are available all year round (productpilot.com), AdWords campaigns (in partnership with Google), online banner advertising and much more besides.
