Cancun CVB expands its tourism offerings

Convention & Visitors Bureau of Mexico’s number one tourist destination has expanded its tourism offerings.
The Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced that as part of a redesigned marketing campaign, the destinations of Puerto Morelos, Isla Mujeres, Isla Holbox and Isla Contoy are all now included as part of Cancun’s ever-growing tourism offering. The CVB also unveiled a new logo that will be used through all their sales and marketing initiatives moving forward.
“We have been promoting these destinations for years, and are delighted that our efforts will now be part of an official marketing strategy,” said Jesus Almaguer, CEO of the Cancun CVB. “Puerto Morelos, Isla Mujeres, Isla Holbox and Isla Contoy offer the perfect balance to Cancun’s tourism offering, and we are thrilled we can share the natural wonders of these destinations to the most diverse and discerning of travelers.”
Isla Mujeres, or the Island of Women, is located northeast of Cancun and accessed by taking a 20 minute ferry ride from the mainland. Known for its cozy restaurants and bars, Isla Mujeres hosts the annual Whale Shark Festival, and is home to Garrafon Natural Reef Park and beautiful dive sites and beaches.
Isla Holbox is a tiny fishing village located about two hours from Cancun. This small island, part of the Yum Balam Reserve, is home to flamingos, whale sharks, and other species. Its authenticity relies on the islands slow pace and relaxing atmosphere as locals get around in bicycles, golf carts or on foot. Holbox is known for its intimate boutique hotels, annual gastronomy festival, ideal waters for kite surfing and its succulent, fresh seafood.
Isla Contoy, located 18 miles north of Isla Mujeres, is considered one of the most important seabird nesting sites in the Mexican Caribbean. Protected since 1961 and declared a national park in 1998, the island is home to more than 150 migrating and resident bird species. Guests visiting the island must take official tours that sail from Isla Mujeres or Cancun.
Puerto Morelos is a friendly, laid-back fishing village located 20 miles south of Cancun and the only destination listed above that can be reached by car. Offering a bohemian, tranquil atmosphere, Puerto Morelos features a number of luxurious hotels and resorts. This small town hosts several fishing tournaments that are held throughout the year, is well known for its handicraft shops and is ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling activities.
