Urban Adventures’ new tours in Bucharest, Kochi and Samarkand offer enjoy home-cooked meals

Intrepid Travel’s day tour business, Urban Adventures has expanded its programme of ‘Home Cooked’ tours, which enable travellers to be welcomed into the home of local families to share a meal and chat about local life.

Following the success of its Home Cooked Delhi and Home Cooked Istanbul itineraries, which are among the company’s most popular tours, Urban Adventures has introduced a Home Cooked Bucharest tour (3 hours, US$25pp), Home Cooked Kochi tour in south India (3 hours, US$49pp) and a Home Cooked Silk Road tour in Samarkand (4 hours, US$25pp). Travellers who join these tours can shop for ingredients at local markets, join the host in the kitchen to see how typical national dishes are created, and sit down with their host family to eat a meal together.

“You can’t get a more authentic, enriching local experience than dining in someone’s home with them,” said Urban Adventures’ General Manager, Tony Carne.”Sharing a meal is how we connect with friends and family, so to have the same experience with a local family while you are travelling can be very special and memorable.”

Urban Adventures is currently searching for more Home Cooked hosts in villages, towns and cities around the world. Applicants should have at least one family member who speaks solid, conversational English, have consistent access to the internet, and be able to adhere to food hygiene standards. Most importantly, they need to be able to offer an authentic and enriching local experience in their home.
