South African Tourism: Eyes on Brazil

Brazil is certainly a key market, and for the first time ever, South African Tourism will be taking a delegation of local exhibitors to the ABAV travel trade show in São Paulo.‘We are delighted to announce that a South African Tourism platform will be at ABAV this year. This will give a greater number of our travel trade and stakeholders the opportunity to showcase their products and services in Brazil,’ says Thulani Nzima, CEO of South African Tourism.

Tourist arrivals from Brazil to South Africa grew by 44.7% year-on-year in 2012, from 54 183 tourists in 2011 to 78 376 tourists in 2012. And by the end of October 2013, Brazilian tourist arrivals had grown by almost 4% over the same period in 2012, with overall arrivals from Central and South America showing a 6.3% growth in the same period.

There are many similarities between South African and Brazilian cultures and lifestyles – including a love of football and the great outdoors, fantastic beaches, a thriving nightlife and a fun-loving attitude. According to research conducted by South African Tourism, Brazilian visitors are keen on seeing our wildlife, scenic beauty and getting to know all about our people, as well as our urban lifestyle experiences  – and great food and wine.
