The 21st edition of Russia's largest B2B international travel and tourism exhibtion, MITT, is taking place on 19‐22 March 2014 at the Expocentre in Moscow.
This will be the largest MITT exhibition ever, with the international area growing by more than 1,000 square metres this year. Many new exciting destinations are joining MITT for the first time as they target the lucrative Russian outbound market. Tourism boards from Algeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Iceland, Laos, Mozambique, Peru and Timor Leste will exhibit with national stands, joining 190 other countries and destinations that are represented by more than 1,800 exhibiting companies.
Rhodes, the Balearics, the Canaries, the Azores and Micronesia islands will be present with their own stands, with Russia now a key market. The tourism boards of Kerala, Karnataka and Nicaragua return to the show after a year‟s absence. A number of European countries have benefitted from a healthy growth from the Russian market in 2013 and have significantly increased their presence at MITT, amongst them: Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Spain, and Romania. Tour operators Mouzenidis and Biblio Globus have continued to strengthen their positions in Russia and will again be present at MITT - with particularly impressive stands that have tripled in size since last year.
Italy is the partner country of MITT2014, as part of the Russia-Italy cross year of tourism and culture. More than a million Russian tourists visited Italy in 2013, which represents growth of 35%. Domenico di Salvo, director of ENIT in Moscow, states that “MITT is the ideal platform to promote Italy to the Russian market and showcase the country`s vast cultural and historical heritage. We will also promote „unknown Italy‟, which has yet to be discovered by mass tourism”.
MITT 2014 will feature a new sector dedicated to the meetings industry. Other specialised sectors of the exhibition include Medical and Health Tourism and Travel Technology.
Next year, MITT will take place on the 18th to 21st March 2015 at Moscow‟s Expocentre.
