Chicago's Purple Hotel to Undergo Redevelopment, Take SpringHill Suites Flag

CHICAGO—First Hospitality Group, Inc. (FHG) has formed a joint venture with North Capital Group, LLC to reinvigorate the property that was once home to the Pritzker family’s first Hyatt in Chicago—the Purple Hotel.

The hotel will be rebranded into the five-story SpringHill Suites Lincolnwood, which will have 160 guestrooms, 4,000 sq. ft. of banquet space and 1,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. The hotel is proximate downtown Chicago, O’Hare airport, Loyola University and Northeastern Illinois University.

“We’re thrilled to be a key player in the rebirth of this iconic corner,” stated Richard Mann, principal with NORR Illinois, Inc., the hotel project’s architect. “It’s a rare opportunity when we can design a hotel amidst a well-conceived and exciting development that will bring new life to Lincolnwood and surrounding communities.”

In addition to the hotel, the site wil be home to The Shoppes at Lincoln Pointe, which will feature retail, dining, grocery and professional offices. “SpringHill Suites is one of Marriott’s fastest growing brands, attracting both the Gen Xs and the Gen Ys, and appealing to both business and leisure travelers,” stated First Hospitality Group Inc. President/COO Robert Habeeb. “This brand is a perfect selection for the market opportunity in Lincolnwood and should be the cornerstone of The Shoppes at Lincoln Pointe.”
