Aeroflot Expands Seamless Check-In Geography for Transit Passengers

Starting from December 24, Aeroflot’s transit passengers departing from Rome, Milan, Venice, Los Angeles, Washington, Miami and Toronto to cities of the Russian Federation now have the possibility of seamless baggage check-in to the final destination in Russia without any need to receive their luggage in Sheremetyevo airport.

The service is only available for the baggage with no items subject to a written customs declaration.

Aeroflot started to implement this seamless baggage check-in for transit passengers in 2011. Due to this procedure, passengers traveling from certain foreign cities to the Russian Federation with Aeroflot flights # SU0002-1999 and SU5000-5999 do not need to get their luggage at Sheremetyevo airport, if it does not contain items subject to a written declaration, so it will be handed out in the point of final destination.

Previously this rule was applied to passengers flying from Riga, Stockholm, Tokyo, New York and several German cities.

Now the service is available also for transit travelers departing from Prague, Karlovy Vary, Warsaw, Krakow, Nice, Amsterdam, London, Oslo, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Malaga, Barcelona, Zagreb, Belgrade, Budapest, Vienna, Athens, Larnaca, Bucharest, Zurich, Geneva and cities of Ukraine. The list of the cities will be further expanded in the nearest future.

Transit passengers traveling from any abovementioned foreign city to Kazakhstan via Sheremetyevo airport can only use seamless baggage check-in service if the passenger does not have the right to enter the territory of the Russian Federation and boards an aircraft without crossing borders of the Russian Federation.

The luggage of transit passengers travelling from all the above mentioned foreign cities to Belarus is only delivered to Sheremetyevo airport.

“One of our priorities is to create the most comfortable conditions for transfer passengers”, - Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Saveliev explains. “Today our base airport Sheremetyevo is a full-service hub, all thanks to a convenient schedule and professional ground handling."
