On November 14, the W Hong Kong was transformed into an oriental palace of shimmer and gold with the ninth annual AsiaSpa Awards.
Nominees, industry insiders and honoured guests alike all fancied up according to the ‘Maharajas & Maharanis’ theme for the much-anticipated evening.
In recognition of the industry’s finest in 21 categories, awards voted on by a panel of 18 expert judges were presented to spas, hotels and resorts, retreats, academies, personalities and products that have exhibited outstanding achievements in not only luxury standards, but also innovation and ecological awareness in the wellness fields.
The splendid evening saw over 350 leading spa professionals gathering to pay tribute to the winners who have advanced the quality for spas in the region. The big winners of the night included ESPA at Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Krabi, Thailand, which took home ‘Spa of the Year (Southeast Asia & the Pacific)’, while ‘Spa of the Year (North & West Asia)’ went to Ananda Spa at Ananda in the Himalayas in India. Aromatherapy Associates was awarded Spa Product Line of the Year, and Banyan Tree Spa Shanghai On The Bund at Banyan Tree Shanghai On The Bund in China was recognised as ‘Urban Spa of the Year’, and Cocoon Medical Spa in Bali, Indonesia received ‘Medi-Spa of the Year’.
“2013 has been an exceptionally interesting year, with many new spas and products entering the ninth AsiaSpa Awards,” says Vivienne Tang, Editor-in-Chief of AsiaSpa magazine. “It was extremely refreshing to see that some of these newcomers walked away with an award.”
The exquisite trophies were provided by Baccarat with additional event sponsorship by W Hong Kong, ila, Bodywize and Kaprice. AsiaSpa would like to extend a special thank you to the W Hong Kong for hosting this year’s AsiaSpa Awards.
