OSLO,
NORWAY—Petter Stordalen, owner of Nordic Choice Hotels, has decided
to remove Pay-TV porno movies from all 171 of his Scandinavian
hotels.
At
the chain’s new flagship hotel, The Thief, here, Stordalen will
instead offer “art on demand,” wherein each room has a choice of
high-end, contemporary video art.
“We
believe it is a natural part of our social responsibility to not
support an industry that contributes to trafficking, which is why
this decision will be implemented with immediate effect,” Stordalen
said in a statement.
Since
2008, the hotel chain has worked with UNICEF and in 2012, more than
2,500 of the hotel chain's employees voted to support the group's
"Free to Grow" project, which focuses on human trafficking,
particularly child victims of sexual exploitation and abuse.
